JOHN IRVING, MD, is board certified by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has concentrated on Total Joint Replacement of the hip and knee over his past 15 years in New Haven after completing his orthopedic training at the Mayo Clinic. He has been involved nationally and internationally in the development of Minimally Invasive or Small Incision techniques for hip and knee replacements. His current interest in hip surgery is Minimally Invasive 2 Incision Total Hip Replacement. The procedure, while reducing the length of the incision to 2-3 inches each, spreads muscle planes to expose the hip joint, which avoids cutting any significant muscle or tendon to insert the pieces of the Total Hip Replacement.
AMIT LAHAV, MD, has a special interest in knee problems and advanced surgical techniques in this area. He received his medical degree from Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, followed by his orthopedic surgical residency at the State University at Stony Brook Medical Center. He subsequently earned his fellowships in Sports Medicine, and Adult Joint Replacement and Reconstruction from the University of Utah. He has had faculty appointments at the University of Utah Medical Center and the Salt Lake City VA Medical Center. He has also been involved in many studies and presentations, on subjects ranging from total knee arthroplasty to computer navigated surgical techniques. In addition he has been involved with research studies.
CHRISTOPHER LYNCH, MD, has a special interest in the rotating platform (RP) design in total knee arthroplasty and is performing knee replacements with this system He received his BA in biology from Lafayette College, and then graduated with “High Distinction” from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. After completing his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center/R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, MD, he became a Fellow in Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction at Colorado Joint Replacement. In Colorado, under the direction of Drs. Douglas Dennis and Brian Haas, he has trained as a specialist in primary and revision arthroplasty of the knee and hip. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Lynch continues to pursue related research interests that have produced various chapters, online and journal publications focused on modern concepts in Knee and Hip Replacement.
