Therapists Help You Focus on Goals

Helping_man
Our concentrated goal-oriented physical and occupational therapy helps patients reach their goals safely and quickly. We work with patients so they are safe, comfortable and confident to transfer in and out of bed, on and off a toilet, and get up and down stairs at discharge. When the situation is necessary, depending on co-existing medical, family and home conditions, patients will be transferred to regional rehabilitation centers.

We arrange for patients’ success whether through home discharge or to rehabilitation. Direct discharge is highly encouraged. Home physical therapy, nursing care and home health aid service will be arranged as needed with your requirements and is just as effective. We refer to our affiliated Home Care Plus, and, depending on your needs and residence, others in the region. Many patients choose home discharge.

Real Patient Comments

"Thank you for your dedication for making my surgical stay a most pleasant one. The nurses were always there with a smile or an answer to any medical question that I had, no matter how simple or complicated. The experience I had at Milford Hospital helped to enable me to pass a good word on about your reputation to the community. It was a privilege to be a patient at your joint replacement center."

Writing_letter"I would like to express my thanks and appreciation for a job well done. I was admitted to in July for my total right hip replacement. I’m a patient of Dr. Irving. During my stay I was well taken care of by nursing. I have nothing to say but praise for your nurses. They left such a positive impression on me as a nurse, as well as a patient. I’m inspired and encouraged by them to have the same positive attitude toward my patients as well. I appreciate all of the attention and care they provided to me during my stay there. All the nurses on duty were very personable and professional in every way. Again, hats off to them all. I also appreciate the help of the PCAs as well as other staff members."

"I want to compliment your entire staff and the staff at the Surgery and Joint Center at Milford Hospital. The level of service and professionalism I received as a patient was above and beyond anyones expectations. I cannot find the words to explain the excellent level of care and service I received from the staff in the surgery and the the joint centers at the hospital. From the minute I arrived until the minute I was released honestly made for an enjoyable stay. When I left I told them I would be back for a vacation! There was one overnight staff member and Asian gentleman, I believe his name was Ronald who was exceptional, he is defiantly a professional and caring individual. The follow up after surgery and information provided made you leave feeling very comfortable. Again, please thanks everyone on staff in your offices and the hospital."

Professional Staff, Personal Care

Joint_center_staffPatients know the center is unique, treats its patients special, has professional nurses, and has 24/7 physician hospitalists for full, complete coverage. The only patients admitted to the Connecticut Joint Center are acute Post-op total hip, total knee and total shoulder patients. No general orthopedic patients, non-orthopedic patients nor patients with any type of infection are considered for admission to the CT Joint Center. Our nursing and physical therapy staff is hand picked and uniquely dedicated to your recovery. In general, patients recovering from total joint surgery are not sick and are encouraged to progress rapidly. This philosophy has nationally been shown to decrease the risk of surgically related immobilization, such as blood clots and pneumonia. A close cooperation with the anesthesia department permits a more pain free recovery and, when combined with less invasive techniques, fosters a personal recovery plan, which begins with our pre-op class.

Enjoy the New Center, Private Accommodations

Joint_center_patient_room_milford_c Joint_center_hallway_milford_conn_2The center consists of nine large private rooms that allow patients to easily move about their area, and accommodate orthopedic equipment such as walkers, crutches commodes and CPM knee machines. Each room has large certified handicap bathrooms with elevated toilets. New flat screen TVs and custom maple cabinetry complete the healthy ambiance. A major benefit of our center is also the true oversight of all patients during their critical time. The centrally located nursing station promotes effective monitoring of the hallways and rooms. To ensure health and safety, vital signs on all post-operative patients are continuously electronically monitored by a central alarmed device for the critical first 48 hours.Joint_center_hallwayJoint_center_patient_bathroom_milfoJoint_center_patient_room_milford_2Connecticut_joint_center
